Workshops & Groups
Sacramento Area Rainbow Kids
Sacramento Area Rainbow Kids (SARK) is a group of families who gather together for support, education, and community to help raise our transgender, gender variant, gender non-conforming or gender questioning children (primarily 4-13 years old) in a supportive and loving manner.
Every child and every family has their own journey and has different levels of acceptance and beliefs.
SARK is not a professional organization, however they are happy to assist with reccomendations to reliable and supportive professionals in our community for mental health, medical, and legal assistance.
Families meet to share stories, fears, experience and hope for a future of well adjusted children who are accepted for who they are in their hearts.
SARK is not affiliated with any religious, or professional organizations. Safety, privacy and security are paramount for our families and they respect each family's individual privacy needs.

Coping with Anxiety through Art Therapy
What is anxiety? Anxiety may be characterized as constant worry or unease about situations or people in a
person’s life. Anxiety can cause negative mental and physical effects. Anxiety may be short-lived or life-long
and range from mild to high intensity. Despite these factors, anxiety is a manageable disorder.
A few examples of anxiety’s focus:
- Family
- Unemployment
- Gender/Sexuality
- Coming Out
- Aging
- Work
- Social Networks
- Relationships
- An Upcoming Change
- The Unknown
How can art therapy help? Art therapy is a way of expressing what’s going on inside. It is a silent avenue that
can lead to verbal communication. Art is a good medium for those who may not know what is going on, but
are able to figure it out through art or those who find that words are not enough to express all that is
happening. Art therapy increases confidence, soothes worry and nearly anyone can join the healing process.
